Didymo decontamination requirements for Goldrush 2010

As part of our planning in Goldrush this year we have had to consider the implications of Didymo being transferred from our area which is infected, to areas which have not. After consultation with Bio Security via Agri Quality (as agents) we have worked through a satisfactory solution to the issue. CLICK HERE for info on Didymo

We would like you to make yourselves aware of your responsibilities as well. Bio security will take a dim veiw of persons not complying with their recommendations. We have a proceedure we will take at the race. This information will be forwarded to competitors in the newsletter in February.

We will be washing boats at both the Roxburgh Dam and Lindis Crossing. The boats to be washed at Roxburgh are the boats that will no longer be used in the race at stage 9. (these boats will be identified at kayak check on Friday 20th and have a red sticker placed at the front of them)
Some competitors or teams have 2 kayaks, one for the Roxburgh Dam leg and the other one for the Stage 9 Upper Clutha section.

PROCEEDURE:
We will have a crew of officials spraying the appropriate boats and gear when you finish the kayak legs. You will be requested to move your boat to a designated area where the officials will have drums with solution and back pack sprayers. You will be requested to assist with this proceedure to help make it more efficient and get you through the transition area quickly. On stage 9 every boat, along with kayak gear will need to be processed.
